The Chatham County Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission is conducting a research project and they want your feedback.
They are asking for input from the community about areas in Chatham County that need improvement to make them more accessible for people in wheelchairs, scooters, bicycles, pedestrians…basically anyone not driving a car or motorcycle.
Examples of information they are looking for: location of CAT but stops that do not have curb cuts; location of CAT stops that are solely in grass (prevents use by manual wheelchair users); location of sidewalks/brick/pavement damaged by root undergrowth. This applies to anywhere in Chatham County, so Tybee Island can be hit upon hard! To make sure that nothing is left out, and you have access where you want it, we need to make sure that your voice is heard.
It takes only a few minutes to write down your street corners, bus stops, or other areas that you have noticed. This is also an ongoing project, so if you can only think of a few places right now, go with that, and supplement as necessary. Don’t miss out on your opportunity for them to voluntarily fix the problems. It only takes a few minutes. If not now, then when?
Contact lovej@thempc.org with any issues.
